This picture of my family was taken at my Aunt Livana and Uncle Amir’s wedding . I was born in Israel , which makes me a sabra . Sabra is also the name of the fruit of a cactus . Just like the fruit , we sabras are said to be prickly on the outside but sweet on the inside . In my family , being a sabra makes me special , because most of the family was born somewhere else . My grandparents came from Poland , but my parents were born in South Africa . My Aunt Monica comes from Holland , while my Uncle Yossi was born in Canada . My cousin Tali is married to Shlomo , who was born in Morocco . Everyone came from different parts of the world , but now we are all Israelis . A Land of Immigrants Israel is a land of immigrants .
