Section Task : Carry Out Planning a story , preparing a story map and writing an excerpt 1 . Prepare a map of a story on the theme of the butterfly effect or human impact on our planet . You can make up your own story or map a story you have read that reflects this theme . Use the story map on page 22 to help you , or design your own . 2 . Summarize the sequence of events in the story in one or two paragraphs . Use the Present Simple to present the main sequence of events and the Past Simple or Present Perfect to present background information . 3 . Write an excerpt from your story . 4 . Show the story map and excerpt to a partner . Make corrections and improvements based on your partner's feedback . 5 . Make final corrections using a dictionary or spell-checker . 6 . Submit the first and final drafts to your teacher , who will assess your work using the rubric The following checklist shows what you should have in the completed task . Story Mapping ?
