Section Task : Carry Out Writing a letter to the editor Write a letter to the editor , where you express your opinion on the issue of organ donations . You may EITHER respond to an aspect of the article "The New Organ Donors Are Living Strangers " OR to the argument presented in any one of the letters to the editor on page 44 . Your letter should be no more than 100 words long . 1 . Choose the article or letter you are responding to . 2 . Choose one central point from the article or letter and decide how you feel about the issue . 3 . Express your opinion clearly , following the format of one of the letters in the table on page 45 . Explain or support your opinion in the body of the letter . 4 . Add your contact information below your name . 5 . Show your letter to a partner and ask him or her to give you feedback as to how clearly you stated your opinion or made your point . Make corrections if necessary . 6 . Check for the accuracy of grammar and spelling . Use a dictionary or spell-checker if possible and correct mistakes if necessary . 7 . Submit your letter to the teacher , who will assess it using the rubric on ^ 53 . ^ The following checklist shows what you should have in your completed task . ? My letter focuses on one central issue . ? The letter includes an opening sentence that refers to the article or letter I am responding to , or introduces the topic . ? My opinion on the issue is clearly stated and explained or supported in the body of the letter . ? The concluding sentence sums up my opinion clearly and precisely . ? I have included my name and contact information at the bottom of the letter . ? I revised my work after review by a partner . ? I checked my grammar and spelling .
