Inventions Section Task : Get Ready Preparing cue cards for a game In this section , you will find out about different inventions and how they have made their mark on our lives . You will then prepare cue cards for a game based on inventions . 1 Read the dictionary definitions of "invention" and "discovery . " a How would you translate these two words into your own language ? $ In what ways are the two conce P ts s 1 m 11 ar ? In what ways are they different ? 3 Look at the pictures and discuss the following questions : a Which of the items is an invention ? Which of the items is a discovery ? & How has each invention / discovery changed the way people live ? 3 Read each of the following sentences and decide what the highlighted words or phrases mean . Copy the sentence with the correct word or phrase into your notebook . a The Greeks and Romans changed and improved this paste . If we improve something , we make it better / make it worse . Example : a . If we Improve eomethmq ' , we make it better . $ Josephine Cochrane began to manufacture and sell dishwashers .
